Aquatics (Swimming)

Swimming season is from April to October of each year

Practices are on Saturdays from 10:30 am to 12:00 pm at the Mansfield ISD Natatorium. Please be sure to check the calendars for any variations to that schedule.

Swimmers must attend a minimum of eight (8) practices during the season in order to compete at the area level.  Athletes must compete at the area level if they want to go to state competition in October.  Parents must express their interest in going to state competition in October as soon as possible.

We are no longer able to take any new athletes this season. We also can not take any athletes until they are already eight (8) years of age when the aquatics season started (April 5th). Unfortunately we only have enough coaches to cover the amount of athletes that are currently being served. You can contact Joan Hart by e-mail at hartjo@mansfieldisd.org if you have any questions.

Regular Swim Team

This team works to help build the athlete's skills in basic swimming strokes. The basic strokes taught in this team practice are breaststroke, freestyle, and backstroke. If the athlete meets eligibility requirements, they can compete in local, area, state, national, and international swimming competition.

Unified Sports® Swim Team

This team puts relay teams together that pairs two Non-Special Olympics athletes and two Special Olympics athletes together. This works on improving skills used is a number of relay races that are available in swimming. If the athlete meets eligibility requirements, they can compete in local, area, state, national, and international swimming competition.
